Do my files pass through your servers?

No. Files travel directly between the two browsers (peer-to-peer). Our signaling server only handles the initial connection setup — it exchanges small JSON handshake messages and never sees any file data. Once the connection is established, the server is completely out of the picture.

How long do transfer links stay active?

Transfer rooms stay active as long as at least one person is connected. Once both the sender and receiver disconnect, the room expires after 30 minutes. After that, the link no longer works — which means old links can't be used to intercept or replay transfers.

Do you store any of my data?

No. We don't store files, metadata, or any personally identifiable information. See our privacy policy for full details.

What browsers does AnySend support?

Any modern browser that supports WebRTC DataChannels — which is all of them: Chrome, Firefox, Safari (iOS and macOS), Edge, Opera, Brave, Samsung Internet, and Arc. If your browser is less than a few years old, it will work.

Does it work between different operating systems?

Yes, that's the whole point. Windows to iPhone, Android to Mac, phone to Smart TV — as long as both devices have a browser, AnySend works. No platform restrictions.

Does it work on the same Wi-Fi network?

Yes, and it's fast — transfers on a local network often max out your Wi-Fi speed because there's no server round-trip. It also works across different networks (e.g. home to office) using STUN-based NAT traversal.

What if the P2P connection fails?

In some restrictive network environments (certain corporate firewalls, strict NAT configurations), a direct peer-to-peer connection may not be possible. A TURN relay server as fallback is planned for a future update. For now, if the connection fails, try on a different network (e.g. mobile data).

Can I send multiple files at once?

Yes. You can drag and drop multiple files or a whole folder. They'll be queued and sent one by one, each downloading automatically on the receiver's side as it completes.

What happens if the connection drops mid-transfer?

The receiver will automatically try to reconnect to the room. If it reconnects, the sender will re-initiate the WebRTC handshake. Note that partially received data is lost — the transfer restarts from the beginning for the current file.

Does the sender's browser have to stay open?

Yes. Because the file is sent directly from the sender's browser, the tab needs to stay open and active for the duration of the transfer. If the sender closes the tab, the transfer ends.

Can more than two people receive the same file?

Not yet — each room currently supports one sender and one receiver. Multi-recipient support is on the roadmap.
