What's included in a Type subscription?

A paid plan unlocks all of Type's AI-powered writing and editing features, including access to the latest LLMs from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. AI usage limits are significantly higher in paid plans and reset every month. All plans include unlimited drafts and permanent access to your content.

Are there any limits on Claude or GPT usage?

Yes. Like most AI products, Type has usage limits due to the cost of running modern language models. AI models process text in units called tokens (roughly 3-4 characters each). Your monthly usage limit covers both the text Type reads (input tokens) and generates (output tokens).

What happens if I hit my monthly usage limits?

If you hit your monthly usage limits, you can purchase additional credits inside Type from Settings > Billing. Additional credits never expire and are automatically added to your account. Otherwise, usage limits reset every month alongside your billing cycle.

What is your refund policy?

If you're unhappy with your Type experience, you can request a refund via email at support@type.ai. Refunds are prorated based on usage and typically take 5-10 business days to process. We issue no-questions-asked refunds within 30 days of subscribing.

How do I cancel my subscription?

From Home, navigate to Settings > Billing to find the Cancel subscription button. Before you go, we encourage you to reach out at support@type.ai and share your feedback with us to see if there's anything the Type team can do.

How do I create a new draft?

From Home, tap the + New draft button in the middle of the page. This will create a new draft in Type's editor.

How do I organize my drafts?

By default, all drafts appear in the Draft folder. You can create custom folders by tapping the + icon next to "Folders" in the left sidebar. Type uses a nesting folder system, meaning folders can contain both drafts and subfolders.

Are there any limits to the size of a draft?

Individual documents are limited to 150,000 words. If you're working on something longer, we recommend breaking it up into multiple smaller drafts saved in a folder.

Can I import documents into Type?

Yes. One of the most powerful ways to use Type is for editing and refining existing documents from other editors. You can import DOCX files, PDFs, images, or content from a URL.

How do I export my draft?

You can export your draft as a PDF, DOCX, HTML, or Markdown file by tapping Share in the Editor, then selecting your preferred file type.

How do I share a draft?

You can share a view-only URL to your draft by tapping Share in the editor, then Create link. You can unpublish links anytime to make your work private again.

Can AI make mistakes?

Definitely. While AI models are quite powerful, they're not perfect. These models can sometimes generate inaccurate information, misinterpret context, or produce biased outputs.

How do I make AI-generated content sound more human?

The best way to make AI-generated content sound more human is to do the editing or some writing yourself! Nothing beats the genuine human touch.

How do I get Type to learn my writing style?

Type automatically mimics the formatting, voice, and knowledge already in your draft. You can also create a custom Style from previous work.

How do I get Type to continue writing something I've started?

Type has inline AI commands that let you generate text like sentences and paragraphs directly at your cursor.

Can Type help me rewrite something?

Yes! Type is great for rewriting content. You can highlight text, have the AI rewrite it, and accept or reject the rewrite directly inline in the Editor.

Currently, Type only offers one font (Inter Vars) and doesn't offer resizing options.
